Warner Bros. Pictures Sets Release Date for ‘Tom and Jerry: Forbidden Compass’, a Chinese Co-Production

Tom and Jerry: Forbidden Compass, a Chinese co-produced animated film, is set to hit theaters in China on August 9, courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures.
The film will make its global debut at the current Shanghai International Film Festival.
Tom and Jerry: Forbidden Compass follows the classic cat and mouse rivals as they find themselves on a thrilling adventure through time after a museum mishap. Along their journey, they meet a group of new friends and become involved in a mysterious epic battle.

“Tom and Jerry: Forbidden Compass” is a Warner Bros. Pictures production in China, set for distribution in the country by Wu Zhou Film Distribution Co. Ltd. The film is directed by Chinese filmmaker Zhang Gang, known for co-directing Kuiba 3.
Zhang also contributed to the animation for “No.7 Cherry Lane,” which earned the Best Screenplay Award at the 2019 Venice International Film Festival’s main competition.

In 2023, Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) created its first localized Tom and Jerry adaptation, set in Singapore. The series debuted as shorts on Cartoon Network and HBO Go in several Asian regions before being released worldwide.
