Fans of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will have to hold out a little longer for the return of their favorite heroes in a half shell.
Paramount Pictures has announced an overhaul of its release schedule, with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2 now slated to hit theaters on September 17, 2027. The animated sequel was previously set for an October 9, 2026 debut.
Jeff Rowe is returning to direct the sequel, following the success of the original Mutant Mayhem, which premiered in August 2023 and went on to gross $180 million globally. The first film featured a star-studded voice cast, including Ayo Edebiri, Maya Rudolph, John Cena, Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne, Jackie Chan, Ice Cube, and Paul Rudd. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise originally began as a comic book series in 1984.
Alongside this delay, Paramount has also rescheduled the release of The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender. The animated feature, inspired by Nickelodeon’s beloved series Avatar: The Last Airbender, will now premiere on October 9, 2026, instead of its previous January 30, 2026 date. Directed by Lauren Montgomery, the film boasts a voice cast that includes Dave Bautista, Eric Nam, Dionne Quan, Jessica Matten, Román Zaragoza, and Steven Yeun.
According to Paramount, the scheduling changes for both films are due to ongoing delays in animation production.
On a brighter note, the studio has decided to move up the release of Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie by one week. The latest installment in the kid-friendly franchise will now arrive in theaters on July 24, 2026. Directed by Cal Brunker, the film features voice performances by Mckenna Grace, Ron Pardo, Jennifer Hudson, Fortune Feimster, Jameela Jamil, Terry Crews, Snoop Dogg, Bill Nye, and Paris Hilton.
The Dino Movie continues the adventures of the popular Paw Patrol series and follows up on 2023’s Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie.
