Michael Kirk Douglas is a retired American actor and film producer. He has received numerous accolades, including two Academy Awards, five Golden Globe Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, the Cecil B. DeMille Award, and the AFI Life Achievement Award.

After nearly six decades in the spotlight, Michael Douglas’ time as a leading man may be coming to an end. At the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Michael Douglas revealed he has “no real intentions” of acting again unless a truly exceptional role comes his way.

Explaining his decision, Douglas shared his thoughts on his acting career during a press conference. “I’ve had a very busy career. Now, I have not worked since 2022, purposefully, because I realized I had to stop,” he explained. “I’d been working pretty hard for almost 60 years, and I did not want to be one of those people who dropped dead on the set,” added Douglas. “I’m very happy with taking the time off. I have no real intentions. But I say I’m not retired, because if something special came up, I’d go back. But otherwise, I’m quite happy. I just like to watch my wife work.
