The original creative team, including director Lawrence Lamont and writer Syreeta Singleton, is also returning.
The first film was a critical and commercial success, boasting a 94% Rotten Tomatoes score from critics and 90% from audiences. Despite a modest budget of $14 million, it grossed $50 million at the domestic box office, thanks to its positive word-of-mouth and strong audience reception.
