UK-based production company Anton has responded to a lawsuit filed by actress Kate Beckinsale, describing the claims as ‘meritless’. In a statement to Screen, Anton said: “We follow strict safety standards on all our productions. We are reviewing these allegations, which we believe are meritless.”
The lawsuit, initially filed anonymously as Jane Doe in June 2024 and later refiled under her name, alleges that Beckinsale was subjected to 15-hour workdays without adequate support, resulting in a severe knee injury when she was thrown into a wall during filming. The suit also claims Beckinsale suffered “severe and debilitating injuries” due to “unsafe working conditions”.
The film in question, Canary Black, was released in October 2024, starring Beckinsale as a CIA agent, alongside Rupert Friend, Saffron Burrows, and Ray Stevenson.
