Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta has shared a deeply emotional account of losing his firstborn daughter due to poverty and lack of access to medical care. Speaking candidly in a video conversation on a movie set—shared via Abiola Orisile Events & Parties on YouTube—Chatta revealed that his daughter died in a hospital in the Iddo area of Lagos State because he couldn’t afford the hospital bills.
He recounted the heartbreaking experience, saying:
“Malik is not my firstborn. My first child is a baby girl. I lost her because I couldn’t pay hospital bills. She was taken to the hospital in the Iddo area of Lagos State. I trekked from Ijora Badia to Makoko, and I couldn’t get any money until she died.”
In a particularly tragic detail, he said his daughter was buried in an old wooden Coca-Cola crate, underscoring the severity of his financial hardship at the time.
Chatta’s revelation has struck a chord with many, offering a glimpse into the harsh realities some actors face behind the fame, and highlighting the challenges of poverty and grief early in his life and career.
