Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) is set to launch HBO Max in 12 new countries this July, marking a significant milestone in its global expansion strategy. The new markets include the Baltic states (Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania), Albania, Armenia, Cyprus, Georgia, Iceland, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malta, and Tajikistan.
This move comes on the heels of WBD’s announcement to split into a studios and streaming company and a global networks business. With this expansion, HBO Max will be available in nearly 90 territories, pushing closer to its goal of reaching 100 countries.
HBO Max will launch in these new countries with an impressive lineup of content, including:
– HBO originals like _The Last of Us_ and _The White Lotus_
– Warner Bros. Pictures films, such as _A Minecraft Movie_ and the _Harry Potter_ franchise
– Max originals, including _The Pitt_ and _Peacemaker_
– Popular series like _90 Day Fiancé_ and _Gold Rush_
– Classic shows like _Friends_ and _The Big Bang Theory
In select countries, HBO Max will also offer sports content, including:
– Tennis Grand Slam tournaments
– Cycling’s Grand Tours
– Major winter sports events
In its new markets, HBO Max will offer two subscription plans:
– Standard Plan: Stream on 2 devices, full HD, 30 downloads
– Premium Plan: Stream on 4 devices, 4K UHD, Dolby Atmos, 100 downloads
This expansion comes as Europe has emerged as a key growth engine for HBO Max, becoming its largest market outside the US and fastest-growing international region. According to JB Perrette, CEO and president of Global Streaming & Games at Warner Bros. Discovery, “Our continued global expansion of HBO Max is helping fuel the great momentum we continue to see for the service.”
With further launches planned for 2025 and 2026, HBO Max is poised to become a worldwide destination for the best in entertainment.
