Nollywood comedy duo Akpan and Oduma have taken their craft to new heights with Akpan & Oduma: The Movie, and fans are loving every bit of it. The comedy film, which premiered on YouTube via the “waptvchannel,” has proven to be both a commercial and critical success, amassing over 500,000 views in just one week. With its unique blend of humour, creativity, and relatable storytelling, the movie is raising the bar for Nollywood content on digital platforms.
According to the producer of Akpan & Oduma: The Movie, Wale Adenuga Jr., the film’s success is a reflection of the franchise’s long-standing popularity. He explained:
“Since we launched the ‘Akpan & Oduma’ Comedy Skit Series in 2014, the multiple videos have amassed over 300 million views across YouTube and Facebook, becoming one of the most popular comedy brands in Nigeria’s digital media. This success has also led to fans of the series constantly asking us for more.”
The movie features the iconic duo, alongside some of today’s trending comedy stars such as Apankufor, Lalude, Jennifer Nnoruga, and Sinmileoluwa Hassan. It also includes fan-favourite regulars like Patoski, Chief Olododo, Sister Bridget, Brother Shangalo, and Omonla.
The Movie premiered on YouTube on August 11, 2025, setting a new milestone for the franchise. Beyond YouTube, fans can also catch the comedy skits on Facebook, keeping the laughter alive across platforms.
