The Disney remake of ‘Lilo & Stitch,’ starring Maia Kealoha as Lilo and Chris Sanders reprising his iconic role as Stitch, alongside Zach Galifianakis as the lovable but eccentric Jumba, has achieved a remarkable milestone, grossing a staggering $807.6 million worldwide. According to Deadline, the film’s impressive box office earnings break down into $348 million from domestic theaters and $459 million from international markets, solidifying its status as another hit for Disney.

At its current pace, Disney’s ‘Lilo & Stitch’ could soon reach $1 billion globally, making it the first studio film to hit this milestone in 2025. The movie would surpass ‘The Minecraft Movie,’ which currently stands at $951.4 million worldwide.
Lilo & Stitch has been the No. 1 movie in the U.S. since its release over Memorial Day weekend. The film, since its release, has topped movies like Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning and the John Wick sequel, as well as Ballerina.

Despite the reviews from critics, with a 72% Rotten Tomatoes score, ‘Lilo & Stitch’ has resonated with audiences, boasting a 93% audience score. While some critics panned the film as overly commercial, viewers praise its family-friendly charm, humor, and themes.

Lilo & Stitch was directed by Fleischer Camp and written by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright and Mike Van Waes. Chris Sanders, who co-wrote and co-directed the original animated film and voiced Stitch in the movie, returned for the live-action version as the voice of Stitch.

The movie also stars Billy Magnussen as Pleakley. Magnussen defended the remake before the movie’s release after some criticized it for being a money grab. He encouraged fans to go into it with an open mind. “Art is art, and let’s celebrate people sharing Ohana. It’s meant with love.”
Lilo & Stitch is still playing in movie theaters.
