Disney+ has ended its run with the popular horror series “Goosebumps” after just two seasons. The show, based on R.L. Stine’s books, won’t be renewed for season 3
According to insiders, Sony Pictures Television plans to shop “Goosebumps” to other networks and explore fresh creative avenues for the beloved franchise.
Goosebumps” is a supernatural horror TV series based on R.L. Stine’s bestselling book series of the same name. The show premiered on Disney+ and Hulu in October 2023, featuring a serialized style of storytelling with new stories, settings, and casts each season.
The series has done well ratings-wise. Seasons one and two combined have racked up 43 million hours watched across 16 international markets, alongside 75 million hours viewed domestically in the U.S. since their debut.
The first season followed a group of five high school students who investigate the tragic death of a teenager named Harold Biddle. As they dig deeper, they uncover dark secrets from their parents’ past that threaten their own lives. While the second season centered around teenage siblings who discover a mysterious threat stirring, leading them to unravel a profound mystery. They become entangled in a chilling tale connected to the disappearance of four teenagers who vanished mysteriously in 1994.
The “Goosebumps” series boasted talented casts in both seasons. Season 1 featured Justin Long, Rachael Harris, and Zack Morris, while Season 2 included David Schwimmer, Ana Ortiz, and Jayden Bartels.
The series was developed by Nicholas Stoller and Rob Letterman, who also served as executive producers alongside Hilary Winston and other industry veterans, including Neal H. Moritz and Iole Lucchese.
