In a surprising turn of events, David Fincher is set to direct the sequel to Quentin Tarantino’s critically acclaimed film “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”. The project, which is being developed at Netflix, will feature Brad Pitt reprising his Oscar-winning role as stuntman Cliff Booth.
The sequel was originally intended to be Tarantino’s tenth and possibly final film, but he has passed on directing duties to Fincher while maintaining creative control as screenwriter. This collaboration marks a significant shift from Tarantino’s usual theatrical approach, as Netflix will be handling the production and distribution.
The cast has expanded, including Brad Pitt as Cliff Booth, reprising his Oscar-winning role as the enigmatic stuntman, Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Carla Gugino, JB Tadena, and Corey Fogelmanis, with Leonardo DiCaprio.
Filming is set to begin this summer in Los Angeles, with a budget of around $200 million.
The sequel is expected to be released on Netflix as early as 2026, marking a departure from traditional theatrical releases. This move signals Netflix’s commitment to attracting A-list talent and prestigious projects.
