A leaked teaser for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film ‘The Odyssey’, a collaboration with Universal, has surfaced online on platforms X and TikTok, despite initially being set to play exclusively in theaters.”

Following the success of his previous film ‘Oppenheimer’, which won Best Picture in 2023, Christopher Nolan has released an early teaser for his upcoming project ‘The Odyssey’. The teaser is set to debut alongside Universal’s ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ in theaters.
By releasing ‘The Odyssey’ teaser exclusively in theaters, Nolan continues to prioritize the cinematic experience, consistent with his past preferences. Notably, Nolan switched from longtime partner Warner Bros. to Universal for ‘Oppenheimer’ after expressing concerns over Warner Bros.’ plan to simultaneously release their 2021 films in theaters and on HBO Max.

Despite its exclusive theatrical release, the ‘The Odyssey’ teaser was quickly leaked online on Tuesday, with various clips popping up before its official debut in US theaters. Many of these leaks were immediately removed due to copyright claims. This isn’t a first, as other major releases like ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, ‘House of the Dragon’, and the final season of ‘Game of Thrones’ have also suffered from early leaks.”

The 70-second teaser for “The Odyssey” opens with narration by Robert Pattinson’s character, setting the stage for a dark and mysterious journey. The story follows Odysseus, played by Matt Damon, and his son Telemachus, played by Tom Holland, as they navigate the aftermath of the Trojan War. The teaser shows glimpses of the Trojan Horse, an important element in the war, and hints at Odysseus’ journey home.

As the teaser progresses, a tense conversation between Telemachus and a character played by Jon Bernthal unfolds, with Bernthal’s character claiming to know nothing about Odysseus’ whereabouts. The conversation becomes intense, with Bernthal’s character questioning others about Odysseus’ fate.

The teaser cuts to different shots of Greek soldiers, cityscapes, and mysterious landscapes, interwoven with title cards that read “One Year From Now” and “A Journey Begins”. The final scenes reveal Odysseus stranded in the middle of the ocean, setting the stage for his epic journey ending with the title “The Odyssey” and a release date of July 26, 2026.

The cast includes Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Mia Goth, Corey Hawkins, Cosmo Jarvis, and more. The film is currently in production and will be the first large-scale production to be shot entirely with IMAX cameras.
