Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has issued a public apology to fellow actress Mercy Johnson and Senator Ned Nwoko following a recent outburst on social media.
Angela described the past few days as a period of intense introspection in a lengthy post on Instagram.
She acknowledged that her previous actions and emotional reactions might have caused pain, particularly to Mercy Johnson. She explained that when hurt, she tends to express herself emotionally, often speaking without filtering her words.
The actress offered a direct apology to Mercy Johnson, expressing that she’s now aware of the effect of her words and places importance on Mercy’s mental well-being. She asked for Mercy’s forgiveness, stating her intent wasn’t to cause harm to Mercy or her family.
Angela also apologized to Senator Ned Nwoko, mentioning that her angry reaction was in response to what she perceived as unprovoked attacks. She acknowledged that her response wasn’t appropriate and stated she wouldn’t intentionally disrespect the senator.
“I am human, and when my emotions take over, I speak directly from my heart, often saying things indirectly as they come to me, especially when I feel hurt. Once I’ve expressed myself, I forget about it and move on …..
Mercy. Your mental health is important now and ever & I wouldn’t wish you and your family worse; that’s not my nature, and you know it. Do find a place in your heart to forgive me.
Furthermore, my sincere apology also goes to Senator Ned Nwoko. I understand that my anger in trying to make a reply didn’t find you in a good state. It was a reaction to an unprovoked bashing and attack that was blown out of proportion. I truly reacted in a way I now recognize wasn’t pleasant.
“In addition, my 40th birthday is close by, and as I attain this 4th floor, I am committed to reacting to situations better with greater wisdom. Our children are growing up quickly, and we must set a better example”, she wrote.
