Ifeoluwa Fatogun is a talented film producer who has made a significant impact in African cinema. She recently took home the award for Best Documentary at the 11th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards for her outstanding work on the project ‘Dundun’. directed by Ebi Awotida.

The documentary explores the cultural, spiritual, and historical significance of talking drums in Yoruba land, it connects deeply with audiences across the continent.
Ifeoluwa notes while reflecting on her win, in a statement to Saturday Beats,

“African filmmaking is evolving. We are finally telling our stories in ways that are honest, rooted, and visually compelling. The world is watching us, but more importantly, we’re watching ourselves with new eyes.

“We didn’t want to make a documentary that just informed. We wanted to make something that felt; something that helped us remember.
We have always had cinema in Africa; in our food, dances and processes. What’s happening now is that we are reclaiming the medium and the message.”

Ifeoluwa calls her AMVCA win a career milestone propelling her into new creative space where she’ll dive deeper into film production and African story telling.
The documentary is set for screenings at various international festivals later this year.
