“The Ritual” (2025) is an American horror film directed by David Midell, inspired by true events.
It follows two priests, Father Theophilus Riesinger (Al Pacino) and Father Joseph Steiger (Dan Stevens), who perform exorcisms on a possessed woman, Emma Schmidt (Abigail Cowen).
The film explores the priests’ personal struggles while facing a demonic force.
The cast also includes Ashley Greene as Sister Rose and Patricia Heaton as Mother Superior.
Production began in January 2024 in Natchez, Mississippi, with Dan Stevens replacing Ben Foster in April 2024. It is set for release on June 6, 2025.
