Actor Aina Gold has expressed deep admiration for veteran Nollywood star Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, describing him as his “small god” in the industry. He also extended words of appreciation to actress Mide Martins, praising her cheerful personality and the strong bond they share both on and off set.
In a recent interview, Aina Gold described Taiwo Hassan as a true mentor who took him under his wing, provided guidance, and helped shape his career in Nollywood. He noted that despite his physical stature and height, Hassan saw potential in him and gave him the support needed to grow in the industry.
Gold praised Taiwo Hassan’s selflessness, emphasising that the veteran actor never hesitated to invest in his growth, even at times when others may have doubted his potential. Sharing his admiration, he said:
“He picked me, trained me and brought me up despite my stature and height. He didn’t think that if he trains me and brings me to his standard, people might start calling him for my roles and he might be abandoned.
But he never thought that way. He is such a good man. I give that to him anyway and anytime. That’s why if he calls me for anything or invites me to his hometown, I’ll always answer. Alhaji Taiwo is my small god in the industry.”
Beyond Ogogo, Aina Gold also spoke warmly about his relationship with actress Mide Martins, describing her as a cheerful and free-spirited colleague with whom he shares a strong bond. He further acknowledged her husband, actor and producer Afeez Owo, whom he regards as both a younger brother and a boss due to his longer experience in Nollywood.
Appreciating the opportunity to collaborate with the couple, Gold highlighted their good chemistry and Martins’ admirable personality. He said:
“There are many things I love about Mide Martins. We are very close; her husband, Afeez Owo, is like my younger brother, but he’s my boss. Not even as a producer, but because he has been in the industry before me. Since we got to know each other, we’ve become very close. I have had the opportunity to work with them a lot because they are good producers. Sometimes, we even shoot at their house or their estate.
Most times when they’re working, Mide and I will sit and gist for a while because our chemistry is very tight. She’s a free-minded human being. She’s very cheerful; you can’t help but like her.”
Aina Gold’s heartfelt words highlight the deep respect and gratitude he holds for Taiwo Hassan, as well as the warmth and bond he shares with Mide Martins and Afeez Owo.
