Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has addressed the controversy surrounding his recent birthday message to fellow actor Kate Henshaw, insisting he would never disrespect his colleague. Speaking in an interview with Pulse TV, the actor explained that social media users misinterpreted his post.
He revealed that the message was intentionally crafted to be shocking and create a stir.
The actor further clarified that the post was simply private communication between two longtime friends who have known each other for decades and share a comfortable rapport.
Jim Iyke went on to describe Kate Henshaw as his sister, challenging critics by asking how many people maintain such deep, two-decade relationships with non-family members.
Defending his controversial birthday tribute, Jim Iyke explained his intentions and the nature of his relationship with Kate Henshaw:
“It was designed to shock. Everything I do is to disrupt. But again, look at it, 80% of the people today get it. It’s a communication between two people who have known each other for decades and who have something legal that is accustomed to just the two of them. There is no sensitivity, disrespect, and there is nothing I can do to dishonour her. Kate is my sister. How many people can say they have two decades of a relationship with someone that isn’t biologically with them?”
