The film follows Zephyr (Hassie Harrison), a young surfer who becomes the captive of a deranged serial killer obsessed with sharks. Instead of feeding victims to the predators, this twisted captor uses them as live bait to witness what he considers nature’s ultimate spectacle.

Byrne, known for cult horror hit “The Devil’s Candy,” directs this psychological survival thriller that positions human evil as more terrifying than any ocean predator. Jai Courtney delivers a chilling performance as the shark-obsessed killer, supported by Josh Heuston and Ella Newton in this claustrophobic boat-bound nightmare.

The Australian-American co-production promises to blend serial killer psychology with oceanic terror, creating a unique entry in the survival horror genre. Rather than relying on typical shark movie tropes, the film explores the darker depths of human obsession while trapped on the open sea.

Released in June 2025, “Dangerous Animals” offers audiences a fresh take on aquatic horror where the real monster walks on two legs, not fins. For fans of psychological thrillers and survival cinema, this promises to be a tense ride that proves humans can be far more dangerous than any predator lurking beneath the waves.
