Nintendo and Sony have revealed the actors playing Zelda and Link in their live-action “Legend of Zelda” movie. In a Wednesday social media post, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto announced that Bo Bragason is cast as Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link. The post also appears to include first-look photos of the actors dressed in their characters’ costumes.
Nintendo’s official account announced the casting for the live-action “The Legend of Zelda” film. “I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of ‘The Legend of Zelda,’ Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san,” reads the post. “I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen.” Shigeru Miyamoto made the announcement.
Bo Bragason has appeared in BBC One series like “Three Girls” and “The Jetty”, Disney+’s “Renegade Nell”, and last year’s vampire comedy film “The Radleys” directed by Euros Lyn. Benjamin Evan Ainsworth voiced Pinocchio in Robert Zemeckis’ live-action “Pinocchio”. He played Miles in the Netflix series “The Haunting of Bly Manor”, stars in the Canadian comedy series “Son of a Critch”, and had an episode appearance in Netflix’s “The Sandman”.
The live-action “The Legend of Zelda” movie is set to hit theaters on May 7, 2027. According to Shigeru Miyamoto, the release date was shifted from March 2027 to May 2027 last month due to “production reasons.”
Following the huge success of Nintendo’s “Super Mario Bros. Movie” for Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment, there’s now major anticipation around *”The Legend of Zelda”* to determine if it can achieve similar box office success for Sony.
