Millennium Media produces Red Sonja, and it’s clear they’re taking a thoughtful approach. By focusing on getting the character right and crafting a meaningful story, they’re breaking the trend of predictable comic book movies. It’s a refreshing change that might pay off.
The movie boasts an ensemble cast as Matilda Lutz is stepping into the iconic role, and she’s perfect for it. If you’ve seen her in “Revenge,” you know she can handle intense action and emotional scenes. She’s got that fierce energy that Red Sonja needs.
Robert Sheehan from “The Umbrella Academy” plays the villain Draygan, which is brilliant casting. The guy knows how to make complicated characters interesting, so we’re probably getting a bad guy with actual depth.
Wallis Day is Dark Annisia, and she’s been impressing people lately with her work in “Sex/Life” and as Batwoman. Plus, you’ve got Michael Bisping and Martyn Ford in supporting roles, which means the action scenes are going to look legit.
I’m genuinely excited. August 15th feels like it’s too far away. This cast looks like they care about making something good, not just another forgettable comic book movie.
