The well-known Nigerian actor, filmmaker, and producer Kayode Peters (full name Kayode Peters Adewumi) passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, in Toronto, Canada. His family confirmed his passing after a prolonged illness.
Kayode Peters was celebrated for groundbreaking work such as the sitcom Flatmates in the early 2000s, the spin-off My Flatmates, and productions like Extended Family, Crazy Grannies, 13 Letters, Doll House, and the 2022 comedy Survivors, which he directed.
Per his family’s Instagram announcement, he peacefully “passed on this morning, June 28, 2025” in Toronto after bravely battling a long-term illness.
He was 49 years old (born September 25, 1975, in Ibadan) and leaves behind a legacy as a beloved creative force in Nollywood, having contributed significantly to Nigerian television, film, and theatre. Rest in peace Kayode Peters.
