Veteran Yoruba actor Fatai Oodua, popularly known as Lalude, has revealed that he and fellow actors were paid ₦10,000 per day to support Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2023 presidential campaign. In a recent interview, Lalude explained that the money was meant to cover transportation, food, and other logistics as they participated in rallies, public appearances, and social media efforts aimed at mobilizing grassroots support.
He stated, “They gave us ₦10,000 each day we came out to campaign. We used it for transport and food,” noting that many other actors were involved in the initiative.
The disclosure has sparked mixed reactions online—with some Nigerians criticizing the actors’ involvement, while others view the payment as a common practice in political mobilization.
Lalude, a respected figure in Yoruba cinema known for his traditional and mystical roles, is one of several Nollywood actors increasingly engaged in political campaigns due to their broad public influence.
