Laugh Now, Die Later: “Clown In A Cornfield” Brings Terror To The Heartland

Movies for the month

Clown in a Cornfield is a teen slasher horror film directed by Eli Craig, based on Adam Cesare’s 2020 novel. Premiering at SXSW and theatrically released on May 9, 2025, it blends ’80s-style horror nostalgia with modern Gen Z tension.

After a personal tragedy, Quinn Maybrook (Katie Douglas) and her dad (Aaron Abrams) move to Kettle Springs, a small town divided between angry adults and rebellious youth. The town descends into chaos when Frendo, a killer clown mascot, begins murdering teenagers in brutal fashion.

Cast Includes: Katie Douglas, Carson Mac Cormac, Kevin Durand, Will Sasso

The movie has been praised for its  creative kills, father-daughter dynamic, retro flair and it has also been criticized for some horror clichés and shallow character development.

It is highly recommended for fans of teen horror, killer clowns, and campy slasher thrills with a modern twist.
