Kate Beckinsale has filed a lawsuit against the producers of the 2024 action thriller “Canary Black,” alleging they exposed her to unsafe working conditions during filming.
According to The Guardian newspaper, the British actress has filed a lawsuit alleging she was forced to work 15-hour days without adequate support on the set of “Canary Black,” and she also severe knee injury from a stunt where she was thrown into a wall.
Beckinsale originally filed the lawsuit anonymously as Jane Doe in December 2024 but has since updated her complaint to include her name and additional details, alleging she sustained severe and debilitating injuries due to unsafe working conditions.
Kate Beckinsale’s lawsuit alleges:
1. She suffered a meniscus tear in her left knee from being thrown into a wall during filming.
2. She was forced to perform unsafe stunts after returning to work despite her injury.
3. The production hired an unqualified stuntwoman, who was the stunt coordinator’s girlfriend, after the original stunt performer broke her ankle.
4. The producers failed to provide the requested workout equipment, hindering her ability to prepare physically for the role.
Canary Black, which starred Beckinsale as a CIA agent blackmailed into undertaking missions in exchange for her kidnapped husband’s life, was released in October 2024. It also starred Rupert Friend, Saffron Burrows, and Ray Stevenson.
