Veteran actress Rita Edochie has condemn the trend of tolerating child abuse and inappropriate relationships with minor in Nigeria.
She condemned social media platform for promoting and justifying child abuse saying their excuses are unacceptable.
Rita Edochie lashed out at the glorification of immoral behavior on instagram, dismissing claims that provocative content is just a means to gain fame.
Rita Edochie stressed that success shouldn’t require compromising one’s values, and that true recognition shouldn’t come at the cost of integrity.
Rita Edochie expressed worry about parents exposing children to content that promotes immorality, citing music and media as examples.
Rita Edochie decried the increasing normalization of these behaviors, urging society to take responsibility and hold itself accountable.
She wrote:
“Immorality at its highest peak.
When did child abuse become legal?
When did keeping an affair with an underage (less than 18) become a thing to be proud of?
The sickening thing here is that social media is not even helping matters; they hype and take sides with this evil with reasons that are never justifiable. Don’t even tell me it’s a makeup controversy for promotion and recognition, because one must not be stupid to attain success.
May God Almighty help this generation?
Some irresponsible families will carelessly engage with their ignorant kids as per vibing to the so-called song of immorality that is being dropped. Everything has just been normalized in this country; immorality is highly celebrated, Tufiakwa.”
