Nollywood actress Jumoke George’s daughter Adeola has returned to Nigeria from Mali after being a victim of trafficking.
The news was confirmed by Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman and CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission(NIDCOM), who shared the update on X formerly known as Twitter on Monday.
“Breaking! Adeola, daughter of popular actress Jumoke George, who had been missing for four years after being trafficked to Mali, is finally back home. We just received her, alongside Biola Adebayo, who first shared the story, and actor Adeniyi Johnson,”Mrs Dabiri wrote.
The veteran actress spoke about her missing daughter during an interview with Biola Adebayo on her talk show Talk to B. She expressed that Adeola, her first daughter lived with her grandmother in Ibadan before she got missing after mentioning about travel plans.
Adeola later reached out to her family members seeking for forgiveness and explained to them that she travelled in search of a greener pastures.
Speaking to Biola, Jumoke opened up about her financial challenges and health issues, making her turn down acting roles which led her to borrow money for her medical treatment She’s currently receiving medical treatment in a public hospital in Lagos state.
Biola shared the beautiful moment Jumoke saw her daughter after four years of searching for her, it was an emotional reunion, the actress was seen asking her daughter why she did not reach out to her with tears in her eyes that she left all her children in her care yet she decided not to look back for once.
Adeola knelt down crying and asking her mother for forgiveness explaining how she was trafficked to Mali. According to her she realized she had been to sold to someone when she got to Mali, paying the sum of 1.5 million naira to her buyers.
The reunion between the veteran actress and her daughter was such an emotional one as they both held on to eachother crying, their tears soon turned to that of relief as they began a new chapter together.
