Disney+ is deepening its commitment to Korean storytelling by forging a strategic content partnership with South Korea’s entertainment powerhouse CJ ENM and its streaming platform TVING. Beginning November 5, 2025, Disney+ Japan will host up to 60 TVING titles and CJ ENM series, marking a significant expansion of its regional content offerings.

 What Viewers Can Expect

Among the highlights of this rollout are beloved Korean dramas such as Guardian: The Lonely and Great God and Reply 1988, both of which have earned cult status across Asia. Additionally, the highly anticipated thriller series Dear X, starring Kim Yoo-jung, Kim Young-dae, and Kim Do-hoon, will stream exclusively on Disney+ Japan starting November 6, in sync with its Korean debut.

Moreover, Disney+ Japan will introduce a new homepage feature titled “TVING Highlights”, placing Korean content alongside its global franchises and originals. Subscribers will also gain access to a curated “TVING Collection” hub, designed to showcase the full breadth of the Korean streamer’s catalog.

 A Strategic Move in a Competitive Market

This partnership arrives as Disney+ celebrates five years in Japan, a milestone marked by its ongoing efforts to diversify and localize content. Tamotsu Hiiro, Managing Director of The Walt Disney Company (Japan), emphasized that the collaboration reflects Disney’s commitment to meeting the evolving tastes of Japanese viewers. He noted that combining TVING’s rich storytelling with Disney’s global hits creates a more immersive experience for audiences of all ages.

Julie Choi, CEO of TVING, echoed the sentiment, calling the partnership an opportunity to present Korean content more effectively to Japanese viewers. She also expressed TVING’s ambition to evolve from Korea’s leading OTT platform into a global K-content powerhouse.

Expanding Korean Storytelling Across Borders

Tony Zameczkowski, Senior Vice President and General Manager of DTC Asia Pacific at Disney, described the deal as a pivotal moment in Disney’s regional strategy. He highlighted the growing global appeal of Korean storytelling and affirmed Disney’s role in amplifying it across international markets. According to Zameczkowski, this partnership not only strengthens Disney+’s Korean content library but also opens the door to deeper engagement with Japanese audiences.
