Netflix’s acclaimed true-crime series Monster has officially begun production on its fourth season. Following the success of Monster: The Ed Gein Story, which continues to dominate the platform’s charts, creators Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan are shifting focus to a new historical figure, Lizzie Borden.
Ella Beatty Steps Into the Spotlight
Season 4 introduces Ella Beatty as Lizzie Borden, the infamous woman accused of murdering her father and stepmother with an axe in 1892. Beatty, known for her roles in Feud: Capote vs. The Swans and If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, becomes the first female “monster” in the anthology’s history. Her casting marks a bold new direction for the Emmy-winning series.
Charlie Hunnam Returns in a New Role
Charlie Hunnam, who portrayed serial killer Ed Gein in Season 3, returns to the franchise in a fresh role. This time, he plays Andrew Borden, Lizzie’s father. His presence adds continuity to the series while offering a new layer to the story.
A Star-Studded Ensemble
Joining Beatty and Hunnam is a dynamic cast that includes Vicky Krieps as Bridget Sullivan, Rebecca Hall as Abby Borden, Billie Lourd as Emma Borden, and Jessica Barden as Nance O’Neill. Each actor brings depth and nuance to the retelling of this infamous case.
Behind the Scenes
Max Winkler, who previously directed Monster: The Ed Gein Story and Flower, will helm the season’s premiere episode. Filming is currently underway in Los Angeles, with additional casting and production details expected to be announced soon.
A Dark Tale Reimagined
With a fresh cast and a compelling new subject, Monster Season 4 promises to deliver another gripping exploration of crime, psychology, and legacy. By turning its lens toward Lizzie Borden, the series continues to push boundaries and redefine the true-crime genre. If you are a fan of Monster, do not miss the one!
