Nigerian cinemas will premiere the highly anticipated Nollywood action thriller Son of the Soil on October 31, 2025. Nile Entertainment will distribute the film across Africa. With plans to reach wider audiences through international screenings and eventual streaming platform availability. By blending local storytelling with international talent, the project positions itself as one of Nollywood’s most ambitious releases of the year.

Plot: A Story of Justice and Redemption

Son of the Soil tells the gripping story of Zion Ladejo, a former soldier who returns home to Nigeria after years of service abroad. Zion carries the trauma of his military past and suffers fresh heartbreak when someone kills his sister under suspicious circumstances. Consequently, he becomes determined to uncover the truth. As his search unfolds, he soon discovers that her death is in fact tied to a powerful drug cartel terrorizing the community.

As Zion embarks on a dangerous mission of vengeance, he must navigate grief, loyalty, and betrayal. The film explores universal themes of justice, redemption. And also the enduring fight against corruption, while placing its action within the authentic Nigerian setting.

Cast and Creative Team

The lead role of Zion is played by Razaaq Adoti, a British-Nigerian actor well known for his international credits. Adoti also co-wrote and co-produced the film, ensuring a personal and authentic connection to the story. He is joined by Nollywood veteran Patience Ozokwo, Ireti Doyle, who brings gravitas to the ensemble. Damilola Ogunsi, whose performance adds depth to the supporting cast.

Other notable appearances include Sunshine Rosman, Philip Asaya, Taye Arimoro, Sharon Rotimi, Emeka Golden, and James “BlacQ” Damilare, representing a mix of established and rising stars.

 Action filmmaker Chee Keong Cheung directs the film with his signature dynamic visual style. Cheung, together with Razaaq Adoti, Andreas Roald, Ioanna Karavela, and Wingonia Ikpi, produces the project. The team completed filming entirely on location in Lagos.
